View Brick Fireplace Makeover With Tile Images. My solution was to apply a tile over brick fireplace solution to dress it up a bit. The current fireplace has textured brick that leans forward slightly and, at the top, cantilevers out in three places (via brick) to support the rather plain mantel.

The metal tile edge is miter cut with a hacksaw and gets mortared in place with the tile. Because we wanted to relocate our tv above the fireplace, and because mr. Extra paint for large fireplaces.

Before tiling could start, we had to patch in new drywall around the sides and top of the fireplace.

But the next time we use the fireplace, i will be sitting beside it with a fire extinguisher…and then i will come back and report what happened.
